Dr Beth Upton made a bullying and harassment complaint about Sandie Peggie
A transgender doctor embroiled in a changing room row which led to a high-profile employment tribunal has left the NHS.
Dr Beth Upton and NHS Fife were taken to a tribunal by nurse Sandie Peggie after she was suspended over an incident in the female changing room in Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy.
In December, the tribunal dismissed all claims against Upton but ruled in favour of Peggie in some of her claims against NHS Fife.
The health board has now confirmed that Upton left NHS Fife at the end of 2025.
A spokesperson for NHS Fife added: "As this is a personal employment matter, we will be making no further comment."
Peggie, a nurse who has worked for the NHS for 30 years, brought to tribunal claiming she had suffered harassment.
She refused to share a women's changing room with Upton - a biological male who identifies as a woman- at Victoria Hospital, and was suspended from work after the doctor made a complaint at the beginning of 2024.
Peggie claimed her experiences amounted to harassment and took legal action against the health board and Upton, citing the Equality Act 2010.

The tribunal's ruling found in favour of Sandie Peggie on some but not all counts
The tribunal heard that Upton began gender transitioning in 2022 and it was agreed with a supervisor that the medic would use the female changing room after starting work at the hospital in August 2023.
The legal team representing both NHS Fife and Upton argued the doctor "is a human being who is just doing a job" and had been drawn into this difficult legislation despite having permission to be in the female changing room.
The tribunal ruling stated that NHS Fife should have stopped allowing Upton to use the female changing rooms on an interim basis after Peggie's complaint.
The 312-page judgement found in Peggie's favour on four counts but dismissed her other claims against both the health board and Upton.
It also found said that comments made by Peggie to Upton amounted to harassment.
After the ruling, Peggie vowed not to "give up her legal fight" and her legal team have since confirmed they would appeal the ruling as well as two corrected versions of it.
The nurse said the ruling "fell short" after allegations of discrimination and victimisation were dismissed.
