The crash happened on the A55 between the Penmaenmawr Tunnel and the Conwy Tunnel

Three people have been taken to hospital after a serious crash on the A55 in north Wales.

Police said the road was closed in both directions between Penmaenmawr Tunnel and Conwy Tunnel, but has now partially reopened.

North Wales Police added that there were diversions in place and urged people to avoid the area.

A Welsh Ambulance Service spokesperson said three Wales Air Ambulance helicopters were sent to the scene along with four ambulances and two Cymru High Acuity Response Units.

North Wales Fire and Rescue Service are also at the scene which has closed the A55 Conwy Tunnel in both directions.

A Welsh Ambulance Service spokesperson added that further support was offered by four off-duty paramedics.
