The gunman left the scene on an e-bike, police said
Three people have been arrested overnight after a man in his 20s was seriously injured during a shooting in Bristol, police have said.
Avon and Somerset Police said a man in his 20s was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder shortly after 02:30 BST on Thursday. A man and woman, also in their 20s, were arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.
The force launched a manhunt after a gun was fired at a car on Speedwell Road in the city at about 13:47 BST on Wednesday.
A crime scene remains in place in St Anne's Woods, near Brislington, which is an "area of interest", police added.
In a statement, police said: "A man was taken to hospital with serious injuries, where he remains.
"Officers have been working since the incident occurred to identify and locate the individual responsible, and three people are now in police custody."
Four local schools went into temporary lockdowns and roads were closed on Wednesday afternoon as officers - some of them armed - were deployed into the area.
Avon and Somerset Police said it is not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.
"A scene remains in place in St Anne's Woods, near Brislington, as an area of interest and members of the public can expect to see a heightened police presence in this area and in the Speedwell area of Bristol," the police statement said.
"We understand that this may have been a very concerning incident, but we have deployed a significant number of resources as part of our response, including the National Police Air Service helicopter, specially-trained firearms officers and drone units."
