Porcelain wind chimes ring in summer in Japanese pottery town

Around 3,000 chimes, crafted in the traditional style of Imari ware, are suspended from rooftops, shops and homes in the Okawachiyama district of Imari City.

The area, known for its centuries-old porcelain production, holds the event annually to celebrate its cultural heritage.

This year, organisers introduced dedicated photo spots, allowing visitors to capture the chimes with scenic backdrops of forests and rivers.

Festival coordinator Ichikawa Toshiki said porcelain chimes offer a unique tone compared to glass.

The festival runs until 24 August.
