Conservative commentator Matt Walsh strongly pushed back against a viral social media claim about Erika Kirk, the widow of late Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk. The controversy began after an X account called Project Constitution alleged that Erika Kirk was romantically involved with Blake Wynn and had been seen with him at a Beverly Hills hotel.
The post quickly gained attention online. It claimed that eyewitnesses saw Erika Kirk and Blake Wynn showing affection at a hotel bar on May 14. The account also suggested that the relationship may have started before Charlie Kirk’s death. However, both Erika Kirk and Blake Wynn publicly denied the allegations. Matt Walsh also stepped in, calling the claims false and accusing the account of targeting Kirk for months.
His reaction added another layer to an online dispute that has continued to attract attention across social media platforms.
Matt Walsh defends Erika Kirk as she and Blake Wynn deny viral dating allegations
The viral post came from Project Constitution, an X account reportedly run by conspiracy theorist Collin Scott Campbell, according to The Daily Beast. The post claimed that Erika Kirk had “moved on” and was seen with Blake Wynn, the nephew of casino businessman Steve Wynn.
The account alleged that an eyewitness saw the pair together at a Beverly Hills hotel on May 14 and claimed they were behaving like a couple.
It also questioned Erika Kirk’s public image and suggested she was pretending to grieve while privately moving on.Matt Walsh sharply criticized those claims. In a post on X, he wrote:“This ridiculous slob has been harassing Erika with one retarded slanderous lie after another for months. He deserves to be sued into oblivion, but the problem is that he’s almost certainly broke already, and has no dignity or moral character to speak of, so he literally has nothing to lose by continuing this lunatic campaign.”Walsh has defended Erika Kirk before. Last month, he also spoke out against people who mocked her online after she was seen emotional following the White House Correspondents’ Dinner shooting incident.Soon after the rumor spread, Erika Kirk directly responded on X and denied every part of the story.“Every single word here is a lie. Charlie’s love will last me a lifetime. The Lord is the only one who can ever fill that most painful void.”She said that on May 14 she was at home in Arizona celebrating her son’s second birthday. Erika Kirk also noted that she had shared a birthday tribute for her son on Instagram that day.She added that Blake Wynn was a close friend of her late husband and had continued to support her family. According to her statement, Wynn is also preparing to become engaged to his longtime girlfriend.Blake Wynn later posted his own response, writing:“I hate to be the bearer of bad news to the cesspool of bots and X users that spend their entire day making things up under the guise of journalism, but I am not dating Erika Kirk.”As of now, no evidence has been presented to support the allegations, and both people named in the rumor have publicly rejected the claims.
