Indonesian troops joined international forces in central Paris on Wednesday for a rehearsal ahead of France’s annual Bastille Day military parade on 14 July.
Indonesia’s participation follows French President Emmanuel Macron’s invitation to President Prabowo Subianto, now the guest of honour, reflecting deepening military ties between France and Southeast Asia’s largest economy.
Over 500 Indonesian military and police personnel, including a full band, are set to march along the Champs-Élysées in what commanders called a historic collaboration.
The parade, commemorating the 1789 storming of the Bastille, has been held annually since 1880.
