Flowers and a toy animal were left in central London

Floral tributes have been left outside a residential property after the death of a baby girl in Westminster.

Met Police officers were called to Horseferry Road at 07:30 GMT on Saturday following reports an 18-day-old baby had fallen from height at a residential property.

A 43-year-old woman arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder was taken into police custody.

A police cordon has since been lifted and flowers and a toy animal were left near the Peabody Estate building on Sunday morning.

A guarded police cordon was put in place

Det Ch Insp Alison Foxwell said the death of a baby was "always an extremely tragic occurrence".

"At this stage, we believe the incident occurred within a domestic context, but we are appealing for anybody with information to come forward," she said.

A spokesperson for the London Ambulance Service said the baby was treated at the scene before being taken to a major trauma centre.
