Canadian tenant posts videos of alleged harassment by Indian landlady in Surrey.
Purported videos of an Indian lady apparently harassing her Canadian tenants in Surrey have gone viral as the tenant started an Instagram account to document the harassment. There is no official confirmation of what happened, and the authenticity of the viral videos has not been independently verified.
But many prominent social media handles both in Canada and India shared those videos whch, to many viewers, looked like a movie.The tenant identified the landlady and Raj Tiwana, and the last video of the series showed some cops detaining Tiwana. The police have not issued any statement.
The dispute reportedly began after a disagreement involving a barbecue at the property. What started as a confrontation over the incident allegedly escalated into a wider dispute between the tenant and his landlady.
The landlady said she would not allow barbecues on her property when the tenant was cooking his dinner with a friend. The woman claimed that he was trying to burn her property, while the tenant said it was just rust.
The woman even suggested that the tenant should go to his friend's house if he wanted to enjoy a barbecue, as she had to protect her property."I am 50 years old. I can have my friend over for dinner and I pay rent," the tenant told the woman.
After this altercation, the landlady allegedly entered the tenant's unit and changed the lock, as captured on an indoor camera. In one video, the landlady was seen hitting the tenant with a stone as well, and then attacking him. In that video, the landlady said she had already called the police and the police were on the call.Then the tenant claimed that the landlady switched off his power intentionally.Some social media users claimed that they, too, stayed on the same property and faced the woman before.
