A body has been found following a search for a 15-year-old boy who was last seen getting into difficulty in a river at a country park.
The discovery was made earlier at Clifton Country Park in Swinton, Greater Manchester, two days after the teenager went missing on Saturday afternoon, police said.
It followed a search of the River Irwell involving the North West Ambulance Service and Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue.
In a statement, Greater Manchester Police said: "Whilst formal identification has yet to take place, specialist officers are supporting the family at this difficult time."
Det Insp Dave Ogden described the incident as "truly heart breaking" adding: "My thoughts remain with the family and loved ones of the young boy who has so tragically lost his life."
He said he was satisfied there was nothing suspicious about the death and it was an "incredibly upsetting reminder of the serious risks associated with open water".
"We understand people want to make the most of the warm weather, but we would urge everyone to stay safe and avoid entering reservoirs, rivers, canals or ponds," he said.
"Please take care and enjoy the weather in a safe way."
