4 Punjab-origin men deported from Canada over extortion links; 111 removed so far

Four Punjab-origin men have been deported from Canada after immigration authorities found them inadmissible over links to extortion-related violence, organised crime and other serious offences.The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) said Palwinder Singh, Jasmer Singh, Sahibjot Singh and Amitoz Bajwa were deported following decisions by the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada (IRB).Palwinder Singh was removed after the IRB found him inadmissible for involvement in a criminal organisation linked to extortion-related violence. The CBSA said he was connected to an extortion-related shooting in the fall of 2025.Jasmer Singh, who had been convicted in Canada of forcible confinement, was found inadmissible for serious criminality under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA). He was issued a deportation order before being removed.Sahibjot Singh was found inadmissible after the IRB determined he was linked to an organisation involved in a pattern of criminal activity. According to the CBSA, he acknowledged committing offences that formed part of that pattern.

Amitoz Bajwa was also found inadmissible for membership in an organisation involved in a pattern of criminal activity. The CBSA said he was linked to firearms-related activity and an extortion-related shooting.The four cases form part of a wider CBSA enforcement effort targeting foreign nationals suspected of involvement in extortion, organised crime and other criminal activity.As of September 3, the agency had issued 188 removal orders nationwide and removed 111 people. The figures cover its Pacific, Prairie and Greater Toronto Area regions.The Pacific region accounted for 91 removal orders and 58 removals, while the Prairie region recorded 47 orders and 30 removals. In the Greater Toronto Area, 50 removal orders were issued and 23 people were removed.
