He is currently working towards an undergraduate degree and plans to graduate in May 2027. Joe has an IQ of 168 and has also attended Louisiana State University. His planned master's programme will focus on sports management, while kinesiology and biology are among his other academic interests. Alongside his education, he volunteers at a nursing home and hopes to become a palaeontologist.

Petraro-Hyppolite achieved several academic milestones at an unusually young age.
He scored 1,590 on the SAT at 10 and received his high school diploma at 11. His academic progress has allowed him to pursue university education during his early teens. The SAT has a maximum score of 1,600, placing his reported result 10 points below the highest possible score.

Petraro-Hyppolite has spoken about his learning process and the effort involved in managing an accelerated academic journey.
Despite his reported IQ of 168, he said that he still needs to study and understand material before retaining it. “It’s not like I was shot out the womb knowing everything I know. I have to learn it once or twice. Then I’ll know,” he said. Joe also described feeling nervous and excited about the next stage of his education, as he prepares to take on new academic challenges.

His mother recalls his earlier educational experience
His mother, Anne Petraro-Hyppolite, said her son's progress was particularly meaningful because he had previously been placed in special education classes after being diagnosed with Tourette syndrome.
The condition is a neurological disorder associated with motor and vocal tics. Speaking about her son's achievements, she said, “It's just surreal. When he graduated high school so young, it was surreal, but this is .
.. everything he does is surreal. He just loves to learn. He is like a sponge.”
Volunteering and ambitions beyond university
Alongside his studies, Petraro-Hyppolite volunteers at a nursing home in the Five Towns area of Long Island, where he helps residents. Although he plans to pursue a master's in sports management, Joe has also expressed an ambition to become a palaeontologist in the future. His interests extend across sports, biology and prehistoric life. For now, he is focused on completing his undergraduate degree in May 2027 and preparing for postgraduate education at NYU.
